Coral bay is possibly one of the most beautiful holiday resorts in Cyprus. In fact most visitors would argue that it is the best. Located close to the thriving resort town of Paphos with it's rich culture and history Coral bay makes the ideal Cyprus holiday location. Only thirty minutes from Paphos airport and eight miles north of Paphos itself it is situated perfectly for access to the rest of the Island.

The beaches at Coral bay are long and sandy making them ideal for sun worshipers and swimmers alike. The resort has a great following especially with families who return year after year to the beautiful hotels and self catering apartments that line the main road. There are plenty of bars and restaurants as well as some vibrant nightspots if you want to party until late into the night.

If its nature you are looking for then take a trip a few miles up the coast to cape Lara where there is a colony of nesting turtles. Please take care not to disturb the turtles during the breeding season however and respect Cyprus's beautiful environment. You can also take a jeep safari up into the mountains where several square miles have been designated areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The great thing about Coral Bay is its superb location makes it an ideal base from which to explore the rest of Cyprus. There are some great excursions up into the Troodas mountains where you will find no shortage of places to visit. From monasteries to tombs and ancient roman amphitheaters you will find it all in Cyprus. A few kilometers outside Coral bay are the quieter resorts of Polis and Latchi with their sleepy village squares and traditional Cypriot shops. Both these towns were no more than fishing jetties not so many years ago but now they welcome tourist and in fact a lot of the local businesses rely upon the tourist industry for their survival.

You could even try a scuba dive with one of the superb instructors that operate from Maninii Island just off the Akamas Peninsula a few kilometers further along the coast. There are some great dives here in the warm Mediterranean Ocean which is exceptional clear throughout the summer months. One of the highlights of the diving in this area is a trip to the wreck of the Zenobia which went down just off the coast in 1980. She was sailing from Yugoslavia to Syria carrying 100 articulated lorries amongst other things and the ship is lying in only 20-40 meters of water which makes a rare opportunity for novice divers to visit a wreck. In fact the Zenobia is rated number 25 of the best wreck dives around the world.

The best way to get around in Cyprus is by car. Cyprus car hire is very reasonably priced and there are a huge range of cars available for rent. Coral Bay resort has offices for all the major rental companies and you can always haggle for a great deal. If you prefer a break from driving whilst on holiday don't worry because there are plenty of organized excursions available out of Coral Bay resort. With so much to see and do around Coral Bay make sure you save some time to have a go at the huge range of water sports that are on offer. From jet ski's to parasailing there is bound to be something for everyone to enjoy. Then again if you are like me you may just want to relax with a nice cold beer and totally chill out in the warm Cyprus sun.
