For most places you go your smile is the first impression you give to people. It gives people the impression that you are neat and tidy and really take care of yourself. A bright white smile maybe all you need to get a big contract or probably sell your idea. Clean teeth is the hallmark of personal hygiene. Snow white teeth also boosts your level of confidence, because you know that you are looking your best which means you can take on the world.

Wish you had a brighter, whiter smile? With a number of products on the market, you can help brighten your smile and make your teeth whiter. If you aren't getting enough sparkle from your regular tooth brushing and flossing routine and your twice yearly visit to the dentist's office for professional cleanings, you can use one of the following options for creating a movie star smile!

• Dentist Office bleaching procedure
• At-home bleaching procedure
• Whitening toothpastes or strips

While most patients are extremely happy with the outcome of their tooth whitening treatments, it's important to note that it is not a permanent procedure and your teeth will slowly darken in color again, or be subject to staining.

What Makes Teeth Darken?

There are several reasons that can lead to darker teeth. Some medications will cause teeth discoloration. Smoking, coffee, and even some fruits can leave stains and discoloration on teeth. As adults age, the white enamel that covers and protects teeth starts to fade away, which exposes the tooth underneath that is darker in color because it is closer to the roots and nerves inside the tooth.

Tooth Whitening Treatment Options

The best results can probably be had by sitting in your dentist's chair for a professional bleaching treatment. The dentist will create a custom mold from your teeth, and use it to apply a chemical or bleaching agent to remove stains from your teeth. You may wear the mold for two or three hours at a time; and some dentists will allow you to take the mold and materials home with you so you can do it while you are at home. Depending on how much whitening is required, you may need to wear your mold with the toothe whitening solution in them overnight.

If you don't have dental insurance that will cover tooth whitening (most insurances consider it a cosmetic service and will not cover it), you can get a more affordable bleaching procedure from your local pharmacy or department store. A one-size-fits-all tray is included along with whitening solution in a home bleaching kit; and you can do the process yourself. It's similar to the method used at the dentist, but the tray is not custom fit so it's hard to know whether your teeth are getting the right amounts of the bleaching solution or not.

Another method of whitening your teeth at home includes various whitening toothepastes, and whitening strips that are literally placed onto the teeth and are virtually invisible.

As you can see from the above tips, its not very difficult to get a white smile. With the products available today, turning your teeth white is not difficult. You no longer have to go through life thinking that people don't like you because of your solid serious attitude, free yourself and smile as much as you want.
