The only actual recourse to the all new liberal administration comes from conventional wisdom. We will call it the 'off and on' approach here but make no mistake this doesn't mean you can be off and on as in hot and cold.
More succinctly it means we must get off our duffs (politically) and on our knees (spiritually.)
Before an examination of the aforementioned it does well to note that the 2008 election is not quite finished. There are five lawsuits now pending that can stop the Electoral College from registering the tally of votes based on final proof of Barack Obama's place of birth. The latest lawsuit has been filed by former Ambassador and presidential candidate Alan Keyes of the American Independent Party.
Ambassador Keyes says California's secretary of state should block the electoral vote (55) from being registered until birth certificates are released by Hawaii and investigations of the claim that Obama was born in Kenya are completed. Keyes and others filing suit across the nation realize that if it is not tended to now it may yet cause a constitutional crises in the very near future.
Democrats can still be dazzled by Obama's sweeping victory and Republicans can learn the lessons of their failed policies but the rest of us would like to know if this election passes the constitutionality test; we still call that the 'rule of law.'
Other states with cases pending are Virginia, Ohio, California, Texas, North Carolina, Wyoming, Florida, Utah, Connecticut, Washington, New Jersey Pennsylvania, Georgia, New York and Hawaii.
Whether the Obama presidency goes forth or not one thing is certain this election represents the most jarring wake up call for the conservative cause since the Carter administration. The most appropriate response is for the right wingers to move of their duffs and get politically active and fully informed before the 2010 mid-term elections. This is the only way to balance the seats in the house and senate and bring the ideology of liberalism back into balance with American core values.
Conservatives are mostly amazed that Barack Obama is said to be using the Lincoln presidency as his model. Lincoln was actually facing the physical secession of states that would result in a divided America. Obama is an ideologue who is correct in noting that the country is split between conservative and liberal viewpoints but ideologies have never threatened to undo this country in the past.
The two- party system has enough checks and balances to handle normal shifts of power. To think of a nation gone gung ho liberal as something akin to Lincoln's passion for the preservation of the Union is absurd. Such a comparison gives true definition of the phrase 'comparing apples with oranges.'
No one can save a county by forcing everyone to think alike in fact when that occurs it usually spells the long and painful demise of a nation; need I mention communist Russia, Nazi Germany, Fascist Mussolini's Italy and Castro's Cuba. Getting everyone to think and talk alike has never succeeded. Countries that thought it could were at the very least frozen in history or saddled with wars, sanctions, and internal horrors that lasted for decades or entire generations.
Getting on our knees in prayer for Barack Obama and the upcoming administrations choices of leaders isn't an act of desperation but it is rather an act of obedience. To wit; I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. (1 Tim 2: 1-2)
Off our duffs politically and on our knees spiritually is not the acquiescence of defeated people but it is rather the call of responsible citizens and obedient servants of God. It has behind it 232 years of American tradition and two thousand years of Christianity chosen preferred and practiced by everyone from statesmen to ordinary gentlemen and ladies.
