It is not possible for any Tom, Dick and Harry to become a detective. It is a hard life out there and you must possess certain characteristics to succeed in this field:

Various peculiarities that are required for becoming successful in this field are:

· You should have a unique mixture of creativity as well as logic. This is not very common as it is often seen that those people who function by logic are not at all creative and the opposite of this statement also holds true.
· Also, good communication ability is also a very important skill required to make it big in this field. This implies that the person should easily connect with all kinds of people, independent of their economic status, education or ethnicity.
· The person should be able to represent all the simple as well as the complex facts of the investigation clearly in writing. An investigative report shows the result of a case after investigation has ended over it. After the assignment is concluded, the client also gets a copy of this report. As this report depicts your skills in handling the case, it is your work product and if you have not presented it properly in writing, your reputation is bound to suffer.

But most importantly of all, you must have faith in your intuition, insatiable curiosity and capability of simplifying complex cases into basic parts. This helps immensely in understanding the case in its entirety by knowing all its minute details.
