Divorce in India- Divorcee Faces the music
How does the man or woman face life after the divorce?
One possible reaction is a sense of freedom, a feeling of total abandonment. Mind keeps dancing and singing, 'free, free, free at last!' After prolonged proceedings in the Divorce Court, a deep sigh of relief escapes. Such an excruciating slow procedure takes its toll. Such agonizing suspense would take a lot out of a person.
Exhilaration, happiness or is it a deep sense of relief? When friends and relatives leave you alone, the daylight turns into dusk, a lot of clouds float into the quiet evening sky. The birds are unusually quiet, may be subdued. You are not that happy, after all! Is it a sense of loss, slowly creeping in? It hurts. May be the eyes are moist.
Now leave every thing behind you. Let's face the life. Take your assignments seriously. Work is worship, isn't it? Good salary and very good environment, what more can you expect? There is sympathy and consideration, all around. Work on your project with total dedication. Don't let any thing distract you.
Enjoy the freedom. But some thoughts and sweet memories still linger around. May be 'sweet' is not the word. Some good memories, may be very few, come up unannounced. Better push such thoughts away. Don't weaken your resolution. Some day we might consider another marriage. No, no, not now!
You can't face life all alone. You need a good companion. Not now, may be next year. It is difficult to find one. For men it is easier. But for a woman, it is a little bit more than difficult. The people around us, the society look down on us. We are not criminals. Why do they treat us like one?
May be we will look for a divorcee. That is, if nothing else comes up.
