The crux of the story is that Nellie, a US Navy nurse, falls for Emile who is the owner of local plantation. On the other hand, Lt. Joe Cable falls head over heels for a young local. Both the couples have to resolve their own racism issues before they can commit themselves completely to the other. Does love win at the end or is their love slashed by the merciless war?
