Good skin, in many cultures around the world, is the key to looking beautiful. Given this, it is often a hard fact of life that many of us have bodies that seem less beautiful caused by un-slightly moles. Moles are an uncomfortable truth, and often lead to low self-esteem.

In case you too suffer from moles on your body, you should think about getting them removed, as the problems they cause are not worth the ease in which they can be removed. Here are a few basics about moles and procedures you can undertake to have them removed.

While moles are made up of abnormal skin cells, the appearance of moles are not always cancerous. There are also moles known as congenital moles that one has at birth. Congenital moles can vary in size, from just a quarter of an inch to some that cover the whole body of the new-born baby. But extremely large congenital moles that cover the body are extremely rare, occurring about once in 200,000 to 500,000 births. Large (nevi) moles vary in size, color, shape, texture and presence of hair. Some of these moles might have a color that is reddish-black, while most others are almost completely black. Some moles have on them fine hair, while others can even have, coarse, thick hair on them.

Removal of moles usually entails surgery, with the doctor using a sharp scalpel to remove the mole by cutting it at its base. This is a simple, almost painless procedure, and can be handled by the out-patients ward of a hospital. One leaves the doctors office with little more than a few stitches to seal the exposed skin and prevent infection. But this method has begun losing its popularity as it causes scarring of the skin, which can be a problem for larger moles. This method has been only a second, cheaper option ever since laser technology entered medicine some 20 years ago, doing the same work faster and more efficiently.

Mole removal through laser surgery, in fact, was extremely popular in the US until it became very expensive and rose past $300. This was a deterrent, even though there is less possibility of scarring in this kind of a procedure as compared to the older scalpel method. At the same time, laser surgery does not give a guarantee for a 100 per cent scar-free operation.

Of late, many are actually turning to a traditional method that has been practiced among the Native Americans for removal of moles, warts and other such skin eruptions. Even reputed dermatologists have in fact, hailed this new method. This nature-based mole removal remedy has helped over 20,000 patients a month.
