Doctors suggested use of this mineral is to take 30mg, two to three times a day for a few months, then only 30mg once a day thereafter. It takes about twelve weeks for any improvement to show. When taking zinc long term, you must also add 1-2mg of copper to prevent copper deficiency. Taking large quantities of vitamin A also shown results. Suggested amount to be used was 300,000 IU for females, and 400,000-500,000 IU for males. It was further found with this method that once the vitamin A was discontinued, the acne returned.
