Introduction of IVF technique is bound to be one of the major developments in medical sciences. It has come across as a boon for childless couples who can dream of having own kids now.

Infertility, both male and female, has been on the rise all over the world. This has in turn led to the growth in the number of IVF clinics. But there are fertility clinics which do not have proper infrastructure in place and are run by unqualified practitioners. Their main motive is to extract money from desperate couples. These clinics are also responsible for rise in IVF cost. They charge high consultation fees but do not guarantee a high success rate.

In vitro fertilization is a process in which egg cells are fertilized by sperm in a controlled environment outside of the womb. The fertilized egg or zygote is then transferred to the prospective mother's uterus so as to achieve a successful pregnancy. As you see that, the process is not so simple and requires constant monitoring. Therefore, to achieve success, it is very important to visit the right IVF clinic. Here are some tips that you will find useful while searching for the right clinic.

First, check whether the IVF clinic offers facilities such as intra-cytoplasmic sperm insemination (ICSI), donor insemination (DI), surrogacy, egg sharing, egg donation, and Embryo freezing. A world-class IVF clinic should offer these facilities apart from in vitro fertilization treatment. Other facilities include storage for eggs and embryo freezing. It should also have an in-house laboratory adequately staffed with qualified technicians. This will allow for the test results to be available as soon as possible.

Again, a good IVF clinic should be staffed with qualified medical practitioners including gynecologists and obstetricians, and a reproduction surgeon. It should also employ the service of an endocrinologist who monitors the hormonal levels especially during ovarian stimulation. Reproductive immunologist, embryologist, reproductive urologist, geneticist, and psychologist complete the list of medical practitioners who are staffed in a world class IVF clinic.

Other factors, which you may consider while choosing the right IVF clinic, include location, reputation, success rate, support and counseling available to the couples. Cost of the treatment and size of the clinic should not be the determining factors for the quality of service available. Larger clinics may have shorter waiting lists, where as a smaller clinic might be comparatively cheaper. The decision, however, should be taken on the merit of personal care that a health center can extend.
