Budget Hotels Usually Better Than the Real Deal

Whether you are looking to go on holiday abroad or just stay in your home country, hotels are the one thing that you want to get right. You do not want to be stuck in a destination for 2 weeks with a rotten piece of accommodation. So how exactly do you choose what is best? Well we used to be able to rely on the stars system a few years back. But to say the least the stars are being very much abused and you can surely get some accommodation that is better than a 5 star hotel when it is only a 2 or 3 star itself.

Speaking from experience here, I am going to tell you about a holiday I actually went on myself. This holiday was booked well in advance at least 12 months before we were due to go. I decided to get myself a 4 star hotel that was all inclusive, before this I had never been all inclusive so it looked like a very interesting offer.

After arriving in the country I boarded a coach to take me to the hotel, I still had the brochure on me from the time that I booked the trip. The coach was to make a few drop off points to over hotels so that passengers could get off. When we got to the first hotel it looked amazing, the build and the luxury of the building was mind blowing, I quickly looked through the brochure and spotted it was 2 stars, so I thought to myself this is probably due to the food and the interior. The next 3 hotels were just as nice and were all 3 stars. The look and feel of them were amazing, finally we pulled up to the gates of the hotel that I was due to stay in. I was gobsmacked to say the least, being a 4 star hotel the building looked like it was falling apart. I decided to stay calm as I knew the interior would be much better.

When I went into the room there was a horrid smell of some type of eggs from the sewage, I then went to eat and to be honest it turned out to be the holiday from hell. I had an upset stomach throughout the stay and could not sleep due to all of the creatures and insects around the room.

So if you are looking to go and stay in a hotel, you should not just rely on the star system, as it can sometimes be very misleading. You should check the hotel out carefully and try to find some reviews, either in the brochure or online. I have stayed in a 2 star hotel that was better then this 4 star one. Think carefully and choose carefully for a great holiday.
