Writing an article to make money. Writing an article to make money on the Internet. Writing an article to promote my website on the internet. Why, that's a GREAT idea! And I know just the topic the world should know about.

So now you have the topic of your article, you researched the topic extensively and even jotted down some notes and ideas, what now? You have to decide what kind of article would suite the subject or your writing style. The way I see it is you have 4 types of articles:

The List Article:
This is hands down the easiest article to write, and it's the most common type of article found on the web. Just get a subject get some info on it and list the various points. Add some meat to the list by discussing each point briefly; say anything from 2 sentences to 200 words. Give it an introduction and a short but powerful conclusion and away you go.

Here are some examples of List articles I would read:
• 5 steps to becoming a billionaire
• 8 mistakes to avoid when selling on the internet
• The 3 most important articles of all time

The How To Article:
These articles are perfect to read when you are learning something and perfect to write when you are marketing to new or intermediate people. And remember: even the pros are new and intermediate at some of the things on the internet.

Here are some examples of interesting How-To articles:
• How to get traffic from articles
• How get people to join your newsletter
• How to market to smart people

The Review Article:
Most people don't buy your product the first time they see it. People like to play around with the idea of having this, joining that. They want to picture themselves owning the product, using it and making money with it. The review article is perfect for this. It tells a much more personal story about the product, adds another angle or second opinion to it. And people value other people's opinions. My business, Freshly Baked Wealth, reviews selected online products. Have a look at the review articles to get some good examples.

The review article always has all or some of the following elements:
• What is the unique selling point, or USP, of that product
• How much does it deliver when compared to the promised results
• Is this product worth the cost, and who will benefit most from it

The Round Up Article:
Also, like the list article, this one is rather easy to write. I find myself writing this article when I don't want to mention specifics, for instance if it's a complex or very large subject. It also works well if you want to teach a general concept rather than a How-To guide.

Here's an example:
Writing articles and distributing them widely on the internet is a cost effective way to get motivated and focussed traffic to your website. When you write to a dedicated group of people with a specific need you are advertising your expertise on that subject. In short the round up article often indicates that the writer fully understand the broad spectrum of the subject and its applications.
