If These Dining Tables Could Speak

Everyone can agree that great food and an attractive dining set-up makes for a successful dinner. But let's not forget about the foundation of the dining experience, the dining table. Dining tables are an everyday asset that one simply cannot be without. We use it for meals, for writing out our bills and letters, for enjoying cups of coffee with the morning paper, among a variety of other activities.

Different styles of dining tables hold a variety of stories or homages to artistic qualities. Take for example the Mission styled dining tables; vertical slats and trestle-styled legs paired with mortis and tenon joinery signify strong construction and Prairie-styled beauty made famous by artists like Frank Lloyd Wright. Classically designed, Mission-styled dining tables fit well in a variety of dining areas, especially well lit and open styled dining rooms.

Colonial styled dining tables usually illustrate a rustic, traditional appeal. A style that's quite popular west of the Mississippi River, these dining tables often come with a large turned base supported by additional carved wooden legs. Spindle-back round dining chairs beautifully match this type of table and are oftentimes sold together as a set. Seen in interior decorating magazines as part of a large kitchen and dining area, colonial style dining tables will transform most dining areas into country inspired rooms.

In its present day, contemporary styled dining tables have taken a look back at its predecessors in terms of artistic quality. Subtle features such as carved turned legs, decorative side aprons, and parquet table tops adorn many dining tables. Albeit that there are many simpler alternatives like plain rectangular tables available in three finishes, these dining works of art will most likely live through many generations. And as a central familial dining piece, these tables will bring your family together for more shared meals, stories and cups of coffee.
