Acne- Fact To Know About

Definition:

Acne is a skin disorder affects the sebaceous glands, which are situated just mainly in the facial skin. It is generally associated with the hormonal changes in the body.

Causes:

• Age factor that plays a major role in producing acne.
• Also, patients of Piita Prakruti and those who have oily skin are in fact more prone to acne.
• Irregular diet habits, intake of fried, hot, pungent and spicy food that associated with indigestion and constipation, also cause acne

Symptoms:

• major signs are blackish spots on the face, which contain sebaceous secretion.
• At times these eruptions get infected and become hard and thick, that are often painful.

Do's & Don't :

• All the food recipes that vitiate the Doshas, such as fried, spicy, pungent, fermented and stale food should totally avoided.
• Care should be taken to avoid this constipation. For this, a glass full of hot water should be taken, first thing in the morning.

Suggestions :

• Local fomentation on face with medicated decoction of basil leaves, water and eucalyptus oil should be rather employed twice daily.
• Decoction of cumin, coriander, and cinnamon should be taken in the appropriate dose of 30 ml. thrice daily.
• Paste of melon, or cucumber pieces should be applied on face at night, kept for 10 minutes, and then should be basically washed off with plain water. For acne that without secondary infection on oily skin
• Boiled lemon pieces should be overall applied on the face to remove oiliness. Also, paste of embelic myrobalan (Amalaki), powder of Cyprus rotundus (Musta), red lentil powder and turmeric powder is very helpful to reduce the oiliness of the skin.
• Paste of fine powder of chickpea, should be well mixed in milk and coconut water. It should be at all face applied at night and washed with warm water the following morning.
• Paste of equal parts of almond powder, sandal wood powder, red sandal powder and milk is also most effective.

Hebs Can Be Used :

• Tea of Löwenzahn, gentian and holunder flowers, echinacea, goldenseal, yellow dock, Stiefmütterchen should be well taken in the dose of 15 ml., thrice daily.
• Tea of cumin, coriander, cilantro or cinnamon is also useful in the dose of 15 ml., thrice daily.
• Paste of melon, cucumber or zuchini pieces on face should be applied for 10 minutes every night and then washed off with the plain water.
• Boiled lemon pieces should be well rubbed on the face to remove oiliness.
