According to the CIA World Fact Book, only above four-fifths of the world's population have other languages and does not speak English. This can be surprising for anyone who thinks English is the most international language of modern times. Even if you log in to the Internet today, most of the websites you might land on have English translation other than its actual language. You can just imagine other websites tripling without the translation or preferred languages tab.

Communication has become more and more boundless with the world wide web and the wire less technology innovations. The very basic of communication is to get an idea across to the receiver. But amidst the rapid inter-cultural exchanges in globalization, language barriers can still pose a big challenge to most communications.

People need to learn other foreign languages so that this barrier can gradually be minimized if not eliminated. The world is such a big place and you need to find out more about it by learning it from different cultures that requires being fluent in their languages. Global understanding can really gap the international treaties and gaps that can solve many issues in any country.

Global economy has made it possible to hire anyone in virtual or real settings for work. That is why learning other foreign languages can improve your employment potential. An additional language in your portfolio or resume can be impressive to some global employers who can appreciate and make use of your communication skills in their business. This also ups the chances of getting foreign grant studies and education. International collaboration is no longer impossible with the Internet today.

When you find yourself being able to understand other languages, then there is a higher possibility that you might be able to become better in your native tongue. Second languages tend to improve your ability to analogize your native lingo and making things easier for you in grammar, construction, and usage.

Learning a foreign language also improves the odds of your appreciation in different world cultures. Cultures tend to have their own sets of art works, literature, history, and other identifying legacy or patterns that you can easily comprehend with the skill of learning their language. In turn, you can value your own culture knowing other people are also enthralled with the customs or traditions unique in your country.

Having a foreign language skill can also make your traveling more fulfilling and less stressful. How many times have you gone to a vacation where you have many moments of miscommunication with the locals? A lot of times has this happened and you can no longer appreciate the whole trip or tour because you know its hard to get what you want across to other people.

Learning and teaching a foreign languages aside from your native tongue can be fulfilling and fruitful. Many careers in language translation never seem to be out of demand. This shows that languages are required in all communication be it written or spoken. Having at least two different languages can really make you stand out among others.
