In English Jal Mahal means ‘Water Palace' and it gets its name from the fact that it sit on water. The lake remains dry in the summer but as winter monsoon arrive the lake become filled with water hyacinths.

Jantar Mantar
Sited in close proximity with the City Palace, Jantar Mantar is the most prominent of five astronomical observatory build by Maharaja Jai Singh in north India during the period 1727-1734. The observatory includes fourteen main geometric devices for evaluating time, tracking stars in their orbits, forecasting eclipses, determining the declinations of planets, and ascertaining the celestial altitudes and so on.

City Palace
Built in the Rajput and Mughal architectural style, this imposing palace spreads across one-seventh area of the Pink City. It was built on the orders of Maharaja Jai Singh II. The complex is divided into a series of courtyards, beautiful lush gardens and other structures. Here you will find many regal edifices like the Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Diwan-e-Khas, the Diwan-e-Aam and the gateway Ridhi Sidhi Pol. Another important building to be found in the palace complex is the Hawa Mahal which is sited a little away from the main compound.
