Former Girlfriends

One of the hardest things a person can go through is to break up with his girlfriend. Sometimes the breakup is messy, and could potentially end the friendship along with the romantic relationship.

Possible Outcomes of Ending a Relationship:

The best possible scenario is that the breakup was mutual, and you two do not have hostile feelings towards each other and the breakup. When this occurs, it would be easier for you two to develop a plutonic friendship.

Sadly though, as nice as that situation sounds it hardly ever occurs. Most breakups occur due to the fact that one of the members of the relationship got hurt to the point that they did not want to continue being that person's boyfriend or girlfriend. This type of a breakup does not leave much room for friendship after the breakup. In most cases there is a lot of hate and resentment between the two, causing them to cut all communication from each other.

How to Remedy the Situation:

Even if it was just for a short time you and your former girlfriend shared something special. I understand that it might be difficult, due to the fact that your pride and anger might be getting in the way, but it is very important to have a friendship with her.

There was a reason why she became your girlfriend. What you need to do is to remember that reason. You need to remember the things about her that you liked, as well as all of the good things you two went through during the relationship. By doing this, you will initiate the healing process, and begin a dialog with her. This dialog can eventually turn into a friendship once again. It would be a shame to throw away a relationship because of hate, anger, and pride.
