Time is Money? Or Time Is The New Money

In all likelihood you have heard of Faith Popcorn. She is the author of the "Popcorn Report" . Faith Popcorn is also a world famous Trend Forecaster and a Marketing Futurist. This is what she has to say about time and money. "Time is the new money. People would rather spend money than time. Anything that can put time back into your life is a good investment."

In my article "Use Audio Books to Free up the Dead Time", I highlighted the wasted time that we all experience, such as waiting in queues, waiting at the doctors, the hairdressers, etc. time driving alone in the car, doing housework, gardening, jogging, gym, and so on. When people use that "dead" time to listen to audio books they are essentially putting "time" back into their lives.

There is increasing evidence that people just like you and me are shifting towards this market that puts time back into our lives. The New York Times recently ran an article about how downloadable audio books have "seduced members of a literate but busy crowd by allowing them to read while doing something else."

For me this is so true. I have listened to 2 full audio books in the past week utilising the time I spent driving, doing the early morning walk, waiting at the Chinese Takeaway, hanging the washing on the line, and cleaning out the bird avaries.

There is such an amazing number of titles available for all interests. Fiction, Romance, Health and Well Being, Fitness, Business, Starting a Business, Leadership, Sex and Relationships, Time Management, Biographies, to mention just a few categories...there are heaps more. And don't forget the Children's books. Remember how you loved the teacher to read you a story when you were at school? Children love to listen to stories and there are dozens of titles available for them from Fairy Tales to Adventures, Sci-fi, Fantasy, Classics, Ghost stories and many, many more.

There will come a time when people who were never interested in reading a printed book, or who never had time to read, will enjoy the pleasure of the "escapism" of listening to a good yarn while they are doing some other task like jogging.

Why don't you start now? All you need is some kind of listening medium such as a CD or a device like an mp3 player, ipod, or even some types of mobile phones, to add extra enjoyment to your day.
