Stay Away From The Pity Parties and The Over Night Success Promises!

There are people today who have lost their savings. There are others who have lost their jobs. There are people today who are scared. There is plenty of uncertainty these days.

Despite all that is going on, I wanted to caution you about two groups to stay far away from. In fact, even during the best of times, avoid both of these groups at all costs. One group is pretty low key, while the other is loudly beating the drums.

First, stay away from any and all "pity parties." These are people who feel sorry for themselves and seem to be a magnet for others who think that way too. Because of their sad faces, they draw others into their "party."

Don't get me wrong. I am not heartless towards people who are having a tough time. I have had my share of tough times. But I'm glad that during those tough times nobody came along and said, "Oh, that's just terrible. I feel so sorry for you. Oh, I don't know how you are going to get by."

The last thing someone needs when going through a difficult time is for people to pity them and feel sorry for them. How does that help them? It doesn't. What people need is positive encouragement to help them reset the vision and direction for their life!

So, whether things are going well for you or not, try to avoid "pity parties." If you don't, you'll leave the "party" feeling sad and depressed. Remember, there are those who would much rather have sympathy than encouragement.

When you honestly look at it, life has an ebb and flow. There are cycles; there are ups and downs. For the most part, you have no control over those cycles. So, why not put your energy, attention and focus on what you do have control over? You!

Speaking of having control, let me mention the other group that I recommend you stay away from. It usually says something like this: "You can make thousands of dollars a month, working 2 hours a day from home!" "Make 10, 20, 30 or even 40,000 dollars a month working part time at home!"

With the current economic situations we are dealing with today, offers like that sound more and more appealing to some. They imagine getting up in the morning, putting on their robe, and then, with coffee in hand, they turn on their computer to see how much money rolled in while they were asleep!

People actually believe that without knowing anything about anything, they can get a website up and make thousands of dollars a month basically doing nothing. And, until things turn around economically, this is going to appeal to more and more people.

Stay away from this group too! Get rich quick schemes are nothing new. They have been around for a long, long time. And, don't misunderstand me. There is nothing wrong with being wealthy. Working hard and operating honest principles in your business should pay off for you.

As a side note, this is a good time to talk to your children or grandchildren. Most young people today have never been through serious economic times. My children weren't even born when I was waiting in gas lines in the seventies. They would be shocked to see what the mortgage rates were twenty years ago.

But we can certainly talk with them and teach them about the cycles of life. We can teach them not to be afraid. We can teach them to think clearly and make wise decisions. And, we can steer them away from two groups that will be of no profit to them at all.

Make sound decisions that are not based on fear. Refuse to allow your emotions to run your life. Living according to ethical principles will always win out in the end. When times are lean, you need a prosperous mindset the most.
