Buy Fair Trade Organic Coffee - And You Will Be Helping Solve World Poverty
But still the question might remain in some people's minds, is a quality cup of java really worth a higher price? It is true to say producing organically grown or shade grown coffee takes a heck of a lot more work than producing conventionally mass produced plantation coffee. Producing Organic coffee by necessity is undertaken on a small scale by farmers in parts of the world where they, their family and their communities are faced with dreadful poverty.
The good news in that in recent years a new trend has emerged where the large company conglomerates have led the way in developing supply chains for these poorer farmers and communities who produce many of the world's food produces. Fair trade companies have developed sources of supply for organic coffee, ensuring a fair price is paid to the farmers who produce it.
Also some companies have begun to re-invest the profits they receive back into the land and communities of the people who grow the coffee. It is good to know community infrastructure like schools and medical facilities are being funded by these fair trade companies that do business with the farmers.
Unfortunately it is often difficult to convince consumers that the way they spend their dollars actually does carry weight around the world. However let me assure you the money you spend at the supermarket or at your local coffee shop on organic products really does make its way back to the other end of the supply chain. Believe me it really doesn't matter how small your purchase is on organic coffee it will have a significant impact on the lives of the farmers and their families who live in mostly third world communities that grow the primary green beans.
So please, the next time you go shopping for your favorite coffee spare a thought for the farmers who work so hard to produce it and make a choice to support them by buying fair trade organic coffee. In reality it is only a few dollars more but your purchase will have a far-reaching effect by helping improve the life of someone less fortunate than yourself.
Remember choosing certified organic coffee is your personal vote for fairer trade and a more equal world for all humanity to live - enjoy!
