Travel & Tourism, Things you should know before reserving a limousine service
Ask the limousine company about their cancellation policy. For example: The deadline for canceling without being charged. Ask about cancellation fees, etc...
If you think you might go over the time limit you have reserved it is better to inform the limousine company before the date of service. This will save you money and it guarantees availability for the extra time. If the company has the vehicle reserved after your time is over they might not be able to extend your reservation last minute.
Call the limousine company to confirm your reservation a week ahead to insure they still have your reservation. It is a good idea to call the day of service a few hours prior to pickup, especially if it is a wedding.
Request the driver's name and phone number in case the driver is late or can't find your location, it will be easier to fix the problem directly with the driver.
During the service: Be courteous with the driver. He/she is the one who can make your experience a pleasant one.
Always request a receipt. Especially if you're paying cash and your credit card is on file at their office. If there is any confusion and your card is charged more that you expected you can use your receipt to dispute the extra charges with the limousine company or even with your bank.
Try not to damage anything in the vehicle or cause excessive cleaning. You may be charged extra if either occurs. Refer to the limousine company terms and condition when you make your reservation.
When dropped off at your destination, don't forget to ask the driver for his/her phone number and call 10-15 minutes before you're ready to leave for your next destination.
Don't leave valuables in the vehicle. Don't forget anything in the vehicle after the service is completed. No one is responsible for your belongings except you.
Tipping the driver:
Typical gratuity is 15-20% of your total bill. Most limousine companies charge the 15-20% gratuity automatically upfront when you pay for your reservation. However, in most cases the driver does not get this whole portion; each limousine company has a different policy, for example: some companies may split the gratuity between all drivers and the administrative staff. In this case, you can give him/her an addition 10% or so.
If the limousine company doesn't charge the gratuity upfront, you're expected to give at least 20% cash tip for the driver. (preferably in cash)
It's a good idea to give the driver half of the tip in the beginning or during the service and the rest at the end. This way the driver would have a chance to show you his/her appreciation and provide you an excellent service.
