It's hard to believe that it's been ten years since Titanic took moviegoers by storm. What all has changed in your life over the last decade? Family, job, hairline? I can tell you one thing that hasn't changed over the last ten years, and that's one of our custom aluminum signs.

So even though Titanic may be resting at the bottom of the blockbuster sea by now, our custom aluminum signs stand the test of time.

While Old Ships May Rust, Aluminum Signs Won't

We've all seen the fascinating footage of divers exploring the remains of the real Titanic. The things that have preserved are things such as ceramic dishes and silver. The things that perished were fabrics and wood. The things that survived, but appear corroded and ruined, were the structures of the ship itself. Remember those images of the rusted metal railings?

When we think of metal, we automatically assume it will rust and corrode like those railings, even if they aren't part of a sunken ship. Good news - not so with aluminum!

Aluminum is naturally coated with aluminum oxide, a form of self-preservation that prevents it from rusting. And if mother nature didn't provide aluminum with enough natural resistance, we apply a clear enamel over all of our custom aluminum signs to preserve both the image on the sign and the sign itself.

So when you order a custom aluminum sign for us, rest assured that rust will not sink your sign!

But Can Aluminum Match The Strength Of An Ocean Liner?

Well, obviously, we're not building ships, here. But, our custom aluminum signs are much stronger than you might think!

Aluminum may draw to mind things like foil and thin, flimsy sheeting. We do use aluminum sheeting for some signs, but highly-durable, thicker sheeting that lasts for years outdoors.

For free- hanging signs, we offer a high gauge aluminum of .04" that is commonly used for real estate signs and other type of yard signs. This particular grade of aluminum works best with smaller signs up to 18" x 24" width.

Thicker gauge aluminum is also available in a medium .063" or even in .08". We recommend these thicker gauges for aluminum signs designed to be used in areas exposed to high winds. Aluminum signs up to 3' x 4' do well with thicker aluminum material. With larger aluminum signs, it is necessary to mount them flat against a surface with multiple screws to keep them from bending.

Mounted correctly, these types of aluminum signs contain a natural durability that will preserve the professional look of your custom sign.

But I Need A Titanic- Sized Aluminum Sign!

Free-standing aluminum yard sign just won't do the trick? No problem here! We stock a variety of aluminum-based materials that can stand up to any iceberg!

If you need an aluminum sign panel to mount on the exterior of your building, then you will most likely need a sign made of aluma-wood or alumalite.

Aluma-wood is simply aluminum applied to either side of a sturdy piece of wood and is the most durable of the outdoor aluminum sign materials.

Alumalite is an aluminum-based composite material that nearly the same panel strength as aluma-wood. It is the second most durable material and available in both ½" and ¼" thicknesses, making it highly popular.

Aluma-plastic is another material available for your aluminum sign. It is a little more flexible than alumalite but also quite strong, good for exterior signs to be mounted between two posts.

These are industry terms that may have your head swimming in the North Sea, but relax! We can guide you to the best aluminum sign material for your custom sign. Just ask one of our sign experts!

My Aluminum Sign Needs To Look First-Class, Not Steerage!

Because aluminum is a natural material, it sounds rough and untouched in appearance. However, with several options for color and graphics available, your custom aluminum sign will look as smooth as a calm, glassy day at sea.

Aluminum sheeting is available in a few colors in the .04" thickness. White is available in all thicknesses. If you desire a color not available from the factory, then we can spray paint or powder coat your aluminum sign or even apply vinyl lettering in any color. Street signs are lettered with vinyl, to give you an idea of how professional that style looks.

For aluminum signs made of the other materials, a large variety of background colors are available from the factory - you just tell us what you want!

And remember - all aluminum-based signs are coated and baked in an enamel that gives it a high-quality, glossy appearance. Your aluminum sign has no choice but to look first-class!

Ten Years Is A Long Time...

Yes, the actors in the Titanic have a few more wrinkles than they did a decade ago. The songs are a little dated and the coloring seems slightly aged. But your custom aluminum sign is immune to these changes of time!
