The Indo Tibetan Border Police camps in Arunachal Pradesh are serving as a safe haven for the birds of various types and this has transformed all the border out posts, battalions, sector headquarters and the zonal headquarter into a veritable bird sanctuary. Our feathered friends fly around in ITBP locations without the fear of landing up on the dining table. Birds form a part of the diet of the ethnic tribes of this state. The absence of birds outside the ITBP camps in the civilian areas is quite a contrast. One of the tasks of ITBP is the protection of the flora and fauna in its area of responsibility and they have provided a sense of security to the birds of this state, as can be seen by the fearless way they fly about in the ITBP camps. Birds of all breeds feel protected with the Himveers.
