Finding Your Own Look

Everybody''s got one ? that friend who always appears fantastically fashionable, whatever the occasion or time of day. If you''re sick of fading into the background and keen to develop a unique style then you can be that girl who turns everybody green eyed ? with just a little effort.

The key to creating your own look is inspiration. A great place to find looks that you like is in fashion magazines ? flick through a few of the latest offerings, picking out models that catch your eye. What is it about them that you find attractive ? could you pull off their style?

Another great place to look for a muse is the high street. Next time you hit the mall, pay a little more attention to your fellow shoppers. What are your style icons wearing, and where do they shop? Family members and friends also make great muses. Whatever the case, deciding on the style that you appreciate is the first step to dressing for success.

Once you''ve identified a style that appeals to you, use it as a blueprint to put together outfits. You don''t have to invest in a whole new wardrobe ? great style is really more about combinations than it is about particular pieces, so by trying on old clothes in new ways you could revitalize your current fashion.

Having said that, most wardrobes will need a little supplementation to get them looking great. You needn''t spent a fortune on labeled goods ? try high street shops like New Look for some bargains on dresses, jackets and shoes.

When you''re shopping, don''t be tempted to play it safe. Go for pieces that fit your new look, rather than ones that you''d wear normally. You''ll never know what it looks like if you don''t try it.

6. Remember that makeup and accessories say as much about you as your clothes. Chunky pieces and bling jewellery are in this season, so you can really go wild with your accessorising.

Once you''ve found your look, it''s time to try it out. Get a friend to take pictures of you in a few chosen outfits ? a photo can be a better way to accurately assess how you look than a mirror. Don''t be afraid to ask friends and family what they think of your new look. They see you day in day out, and they''ll know what really suits you.
