Would you like to have more confidence? Have you got a low self-esteem? Have you had enough of being sad and depressed? I am not sure how you have answered these questions but I will let you into a little secret, a few years ago I would have answered yes to all of them. I have now, after a lot of hard work, managed to pull myself out of the doldrums and have never been so confident. For the first time in a long time, I am now able to look forward to the future. In this article I will write about the way in which I successfully increased my overall self-esteem.

You may possibly be wandering what it was that had made me so sad and depressed in the first place or as to why I had a low self-esteem and lack of confidence. Well there were a number of factors. Growing up I had a speech impediment, more commonly known as a stutter. I developed the stutter at the age of four and continued to struggle to talk for the next eighteen years. Stuttering was without doubt the biggest cause of my problems and dented my confidence in a massive way.

I have always been quite short compared to other men and now, as a fully grown adult, am only five foot five. This may not be what some people would call dramatically small but I certainly let it affect my life.

I also have a bald patch in the middle of my scalp, looking back now I should not have been so vain and bothered about this but of course hindsight is a great thing.

What I eventually learnt is that it does not matter what other people thought of me, it was what I thought that was important.

I decided to face up to my problems, I worked extremely hard to eradicate the stutter and learned to accept my height and bald patch.

I now like myself and am able to speak as well as the next man.
