05 Rules To Purchase Your Bathing Suit

The first thing that pops into my mind when the summer is coming is a wonderful time at the beach with the children, the swimming pool moments with the neighbourhood or those barbeque evenings with the family. Not so long ago this was totally different. As soon as the temperature went up I started thinking of another unfulfilling search for a swimsuit to wear. Strangely enough I didn't like the summer, just because I was unconfident about my outfit. I just couldn't enjoy.

Fortunately, we have witnessed a change on the market. In the old days there weren't much plus size swimsuits that could take away those feelings of unconfident. Nowadays, there are many different styles of plus size bathing suits, a huge variety of colours and all kinds of different fabrics for full figured women to choose from. But the wider availability doesn't mean we can just shop around and buy anything we like. We have to look for the right style and right type of swimwear.

When I look for a new bathing suit to buy, I always follow a set of rules I developed over the last years. If you, too, pay attention to those rules, I am sure it makes your shopping experience just as much fun as it is for me. And the reward afterwards is even better, you choose the right plus size swimsuit and you will feel great next summer.

Rule #1: You should be willing to pay a little extra for Quality

Let me be straight, there are some good deals and discount offers which you shouldn't ignore, but normally plus size swimwear of decent quality cost around $80 on average. My experience is that those extra bucks are more than worth it. Inexpensive swimwear just doesn't offer the same comfort. Besides that on the long run low quality bathing suits cost more as they aren't that durable. After wearing it 3 or 4 times you have to look for a new outfit because the colours start fading or the fabrics are tearing up. My advice is to invest a little bit more in a high quality swimsuit that fits well and is made to last.

Rule #2: You should pick a style that suits the Purpose

Like I already mentioned, there has been a change in the availability of plus size swimwear for women. No longer do you have to choose only between unflattering bathing suits made of low standard fabrics and non fashionable colours. You can choose from sexy bikinis, trendy plus size tankinis, sporty swimwear with skirts and high quality one-piece bathing suits. When you are shopping, always ask yourself what you will be doing in your swimsuit. If sunbathing is your main thing, look for a bikini. Are you planning to do a lot of swimming, I suggest you focus on a one-piece bathing suit with ample support. Is it mainly for strolling down the boulevards, consider a trendy sarong or a tankini.

Rule #3: You should choose a type that suits your Body

Like every woman, there is something I don't like about my body, in my case my curvy bottom. Fortunately, there is a huge variety of women's plus size swimwear to camouflage all the body parts that we are unconfident about. For every type of body is a different style. If you have wide hips or big thighs, look for one or two piece plus size bathing suits with high cut bottoms. Are you a "Busty Women", look for plus size swimwear with built-in under wire bras. Take your time to find out which style fits you best; this makes a huge difference when you introduce yourself on the beach.

Rule #4: You should consider shopping Online

Just as with all other products, the internet is a fair alternative for shopping for plus size swimwear. I found out that the diversity of products is much wider then in the average department store. Besides that you don't have that annoying saleswoman and inconvenient fitting room. There are several online swimwear retailers, so you shouldn't have any troubles finding them. Most of them have good customer service. Don't forget to check the return policy before you push that "Buy Now" button.

Rule #5: You should not be to hard on Yourself.

The way you look is important, but so is comfort. What I am trying to say is, don't loose yourself during the buying process. If you think you found the perfect swimsuit because you like the colours and the looks, make sure it also fits. The same goes the other way around. But remember: you are your worst critic so give yourself a break when you are in front of that mirror.
