If you are wondering how to configure bedroom furniture in your home, I have the answer for you. Just read on…

Bedroom furniture should be configured in a way that represents comfort and relaxation. The main focal point in the room is almost always the bed. You should give this center stage, as if it is the main character in a play on the subject of how to configure bedroom furniture.

Arranging the furniture should always start with drawing to scale an exact replica of your room and all the furnishings. Using graph paper, take the measurements of your room by foot and draw it on the graph paper. Every ¼ of graph paper represents 1 foot of your room. Do the same with your furniture, keeping in mind all the measurements for windows, doors, and closets, as well as the space between the windows so you know if the furniture can fit. All the cable and phone wire, and wall outlets need to be taken into consideration before placing the furniture on your drawing using paper cutouts.

Move the furniture around on the graph paper until you fit every piece until it looks good. Bedrooms are hard because of all the little spaces they have because of the many doors and windows. There is rarely a wall that has nothing on it, and if there is, chances are your bed will be on that wall. Placement of the bed should not impede any closets or doors so that you have at least 18 inches of walking space between the bed and the wall or door.

Decide on your final scheme and then place the furniture accordingly. Look at the height placement of each item. You don't want all your dressers on the same wall leaving the other wall with only smaller items. Large dressers should be placed alone, in between chairs of the same height. Leave enough room on either side of your bed for side tables for perching objects such as a book or glass of water. Although they don't need to be exact, if you have lamps on both tables they should both be the same height as each other, as well as the headboard to give some fluency.

Another basic tip is to always anchor a large picture above a piece of furniture instead of letting it float on the wall. A bedroom is a place that you are going to be spending a lot of time, and a room that people don't usually worry about. You should make your bedroom as comfortable as the family room or kitchen. With this quick guide on how to arrange bedroom furniture, you can get the look you want without breaking your back by moving furniture around over and over.
