Feng Shui, the Chinese art of placement is making a major revival not only in its native country, but worldwide.

Feng shui, from the Chinese concept of yin and yang, has been practiced for thousands of years. Evidence of the existence of this practice can be found in the alignment and organization of graves in the Yangshao villages from 6000 B.C. There is compelling evidence that suggests that feng shui was not strictly an Asian entity. In prehistoric Europe, the practice of arranging objects and structures to be in harmony with the universe was a relatively common practice.

A popular theory regarding the origins of feng shui suggests that the practice stemmed from ancient shamans who understood the vital importance of strategically placing a village. Areas which possessed mild winds would generate plentiful harvests while harsh winds would stunt crop growth or destroy the harvest altogether. In addition, the placement of a village in close proximity to flowing water and fresh springs would stimulate growth and ensure health, while stagnant water would foster disease and disharmony within the community. As the centuries passed, these shamans correlated their thoughts on wind and water with the teachings of Daoism, thus creating the practice of feng shui.

As a design philosophy, "good" feng shui is believed to promote health, prosperity, creativity, positive social relationships, self-confidence, contemplation, and respect for others.

Feng Shui doctrine posits the energy of our home greatly affects our general well-being. It is critically important to take great care with interior and exterior design, as well as furniture and object placement, so that everything works in harmony with the cosmic energy.

People who employ the art of Feng Shui report wonderful positive changes. They have reported improved health and more harmonious relationships. Taking care of our homes infuses us with sacredness and we become living spirits that nurture us.

Whether you love or hate him, ubiquitous, Donald Trump is a major real estate developer who, was persuaded to use a Feng Shui expert during the construction of the Riverside South Hong Kong New York real estate project, as well as Trump Towers. To do business with Hong Kong, Singapore,Taiwan, China-"No Feng Shui -- no deal." These two projects surpassed all expectations during the initial leasing/buying phase. Mr. Trump readily acknowledges he uses a Feng Shui expert for all his real estate projects. As an astute businessman, Mr.Trump would not continue to use something that did not give him quantifiable value. We can learn from Mr. Trump in that regard.

Fortuitously, in nature all things are in harmony. Animals live harmoniously in nature. Animals are naturally drawn to harmony and beauty and will seek it out whenever possible. Thus, we as human animals need to create a harmonious and esthetically beautiful atmosphere in our homes and yards. Making the transition from your current living/business environment to a Feng Shui environment is easy and quite inexpensive. Start by using this check list:

• If your home is filled with joy and with happiness and bliss, so will your life be.

• If your home is cluttered with un-finished paperwork, un-read magazines and piles of newspapers so will your life be an accumulation of information and data that is never included.

• If your sink is broken and leaking so will your emotions be in eating away at the structure of your life.

• If your home is overdue for maintenance, if the drains are clogged and the roof is in disrepair, your life may be falling apart.

• If you do not care for your home enough to keep it in good condition, you probably do not value your own health and wellbeing.

• If you don't take the time to repair that leaky faucet you probably do not take the time to deal with the circumstances of your life.

• If your home is vulnerable to the attacking energies, you may find yourself vulnerable in finance, business and personal relationships.

• If your home does not hold the energy to create prosperity your finances will be in the red or bankrupt.

• If there is no room in your home for more love, love will not find its way to your door.

There are a plethora of books, video tapes, articles and professionals to consult. The Fee for a professional range from $90.00 to $135.00 an hour depending on the length of your projects.
