Like humans, dogs also wish to be rewarded for their good work. Rewarding your dog also helps to motivate him to do various things. You do not have to do too much in this respect; some small things may play great role.

To begin with, you need to know what really motivates your dog. You must know if he is motivated by food, toys or bones. You need to identify as to what he likes the best and treat him accordingly.

Once you know what your dog loves the most, you need to know the right time to reward him with his best thing. You must keep in mind that it should not be given to your dog just because you find him cute or lovely. You must make him strive for it. These are tools which you can use to earn his respect and listen to you. Once he obeys you, he gets his reward. If you will give him what he loves the most, just like that, he will lose the value and will not try for things to win your heart.

Following things is best to train your dog; they are training tools for your pet. You can ask him to sit down, get up, stay, bark, shake, high five, kiss or what ever you would like him to do. You may take him for jogging or running, and ask him to sit when you feel like. When he listens to use well, you can give him his reward with love and a pat on his back.

You have to spend time to teach him things which he does not know. Your time and attention is very important for your dog's training and taming. The idea is to have the perfect reward, and make him strive for it. If your dog remains untrained, it will create a lot of problems for you. It may not even qualify to stay within your house. In fact, the difference between a stray dog and a domestic dog is that it is trained. Training is best done by rewarding your dear dog with what he loves the most.
