The role of kindergarten is very crucial to a child's overall mental and academic growth. There are many reasons that make it so. An effective kindergarten background will come in handy when the child moves on to the big school. For this reason, kindergarten jobs are very important. And finding teachers who are fit for kindergarten jobs may be a bit challenging. After all, above anything else, an effective kindergarten teacher is one who is aware and gives importance to the unique characteristics of the kindergarten setup. The role of a kindergarten teacher is not just as an instructor. He or she is someone who is in the position to cultivate the child's beginnings.

The most important characteristic of the kindergarten setting is that it is a transitional period. The little kids, used to the comfortable environment of their homes, which is mostly the only major environment they've ever been in, may find it hard to suddenly be in a strange place with a lot of other kids. This experience can make or break a child. He or she should be carefully guided into the new environment by someone who is fully capable to do so. The kindergarten stage is a very sensitive stage, so not everyone is fit for a kindergarten job.

Aside from that, in kindergarten, the children's sense of learning is heightened. A kindergarten teacher should be sensitive enough to know this, and should also know how to take advantage of it, without putting pressure upon the children. This heightened sense of learning will become rarer as the child grows older, so a child's kindergarten stage should not be wasted. The teacher should be able to nurture the child's learning desire as well, and cause it to develop even more fully. At this time, the child is very creative as he begins to explore the things around him. His interests are also beginning to show, and the teacher should be able to lead him so his interests will not wane, but instead, develop even more.

The stakes may be quite high, and the stage becomes even more challenging, because of the children's short attention spans. They are easily distracted or bored. They are easily caught by anything that comes within their sight. The teacher should be prepared for such instances, even in the middle of an educational activity. Some entertaining play activities will definitely come in handy. So a kindergarten job is an active job. A kindergarten teacher should be ready to rise up to the challenge.

Finally, kindergarten sets the stage for the child's academic growth. At the end of kindergarten, the child should be emotionally and mentally prepared for what will come next. Only a good kindergarten teacher can be sensitive enough to discern whether a child is ready or needs some more attention. As the child grows and goes on to the big school, what he has learned from kindergarten and the nurturing of his interests and creativity will jumpstart his academic progress and lead him down the right direction.
