Knowing how to locate a handyman can mean the difference between wasting your money and getting high quality professional work. It doesn't matter what type of job you want the handyman to do, you need to be sure he has the skills and qualifications needed to perform that task well.

If the task at hand is something relatively simple, such as raking leaves, mowing the lawn, or clearing brush then it is fairly simple to decide how to locate a handyman. Perhaps a teenager who lives in your neighborhood is interested in earning some extra money, or a youth group at a nearby church might have a listing of young adults who do yard work and such. If you prefer to hire someone who is licensed and bonded, look for a handyman service listed in the newspaper or the yellow pages. If you choose the latter method to find a handyman be sure to check with the Better Business Bureau and ask for references.

How to Locate a Handyman

Sometimes, though, you need a handyman who has more advanced skills or specific knowledge. Maybe your sprinklers need repair, or you have a leaky pipe that needs fixing. In these cases you need to be sure the handyman you hire has the qualifications to do the job in question. You can look through professional listings for a potential candidate, but one of the best ways to find the right person is to ask your family and friends for a referral. Quite often you will be able to gather several names to consider, with the added reassurance that people you trust have provided a reference. As you can see, it is not that difficult to decide how to locate a handyman the next time you need one.
