Superphone Showdown - Blackberry Storm Vs Sony Ericsson X1
They're two of the most powerful mobile phones on the planet, this year, and as we roll on towards Christmas, the fight between the Blackberry Storm and the Sony Ericsson X1 is set to get even more intense. But which if these two superphones should YOU buy?
Blackberry Storm - more than just a storm in a teacup
It's the first ever Blackberry mobile phone with a touchscreen... it's the first ever mobile phone to feature a moving, clicky screen... and it's gorgeous... it can only be the Blackberry Storm. But is it as good as people have been predicting? Well, there's no denying the Blackberry Storm is cool. Everything from the name to the design, to the list of features is simply brilliant. What really sets the Blackberry Storm apart, though, is that touchscreen, which actually moves down into the phone when you press it. The reason for that? When you press on, say, the virtual keyboard on screen, it feels just like you're pressing a real key. It makes typing on the touchscreen a much nicer experience, and much easier than a traditional touchscreen. That's a good thing, because needless to say, you get the usual Blackberry email access on the Blackberry Storm. Include HSDPA internet, GPS and a 3 megapixel camera, and the Blackberry Storm becomes a seriously appealing prospect.
Sony Ericsson X1 - Windows of the soul
Meanwhile, in the blue corner, we have another first: the first mobile phone from Sony Ericsson to ever be built around Windows Mobile. It's the Sony Ericsson X1 and it is genuinely stunning. Oh, and on top of the Windows Mobile interface, the Sony Ericsson X1 has their brand new 'panel interface', taking the user-friendliness to an entirely new level. Encased in a premium metal body, the Sony Ericsson X1 really is one of the nicest and most powerful mobile phones out there, with super fast HSDPA, GPS, a 3 megapixel camera, and one of the fastest processors ever seen on a Windows Mobile phone. Put simply, the Sony Ericsson X1, is genuinely, properly stunning!
But now we come to the big question... of these two mobile phones, which is the one you should actually go for?
Blackberry Storm vs Sony Ericsson X1 - which is the smarter buy?
So, when it comes down to it, which is the one to go for: the Blackberry Storm, or the Sony Ericsson X1? Well, there's no doubt both mobile phones are incredibly powerful, and they're definitely pretty evenly matched. The Blackberry Storm has that unique screen, and Blackberry email support, but the, the Sony Ericsson X1 looks better and has a physical, slide-out keyboard. That's going to mean that typing texts or emails on the Sony Ericsson X1 is inevitably going to be easier and quicker than on the Blackberry Storm. Of course, if you also add on third party messenger software, that'll benefit from the physical keyboard, too. Combine that fact with the looks, and the fact that it's probably more powerful than most mobile phones on the planet, and I have to say that after a hard-fought battle, the Sony Ericsson X1 is the winner.
