Learn to accept and love your body. Yes, keeping your weight in check is crucial to staying healthy and feeling good, but realize that although diet and exercise can help you make the most of your shape, your genetic makeup plays a key role in determining your body size. So stop focusing on your perceived shortcomings, and embrace your best qualities. Studies have shown that if you think you're overweight it could be worse than actually being overweight. The less satisfied people are with their size, the unhealthier they felt. Stay positive. Poor body image has negative effects on health and may eventually lead to anxiety, depression, eating disorders and decreased sexual function.
Serve others. Research has shown that women who volunteer are happier, have more energy and enjoy a greater sense of control over their lives. As you serve others, it gives you the chance to forget about yourself for awhile and focus on something else. The feeling of accomplishment that comes after helping others, whether it be something as small as watching a neighbor's children to cleaning up the yard of an elderly person, will leave you feeling happier, and more motivated to accomplish other things in your life.
Go to bed earlier. Research has revealed that chronic sleep deprivation can weaken your immune system which makes you prone to more illnesses. Try and get to bed before midnight and make sure you are getting a full eight hours of sleep ever night. Not only will your stress handling ability sky rocket, but you'll also be less irritable, have more energy, and actually have a better control over your weight.
Get moving. It's crucial to schedule exercise time into your daily routine, even if it's just 15 minutes here and there. Try and lift weights at least twice a week, as research has shown that weight training is more effective for building bone strength than cardio exercises (i.e. jogging, running, swimming). Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park farther away so you have to walk, ride your bike or walk to the store, do squats while you brush your teeth...any extra bit of exercise will benefit you in the long run. If you have trouble getting the jump-start you need to get to the gym, try Zantrex energy shot to give you the extra boost.
Eat healthy. Don't tempt yourself by keeping sugary treats and high-fat snacks in your house. Get rid of them and buy healthy alternatives like fruits, veggies, nuts, yogurt, and cottage cheese. Plan your meals ahead of time and take time to sit down and eat. Don't eat while you're doing other things because you are more prone to overeat. And make sure to drink lots of water throughout the day to stay hydrated and keep your body functioning properly.
