For Teeth Whitening, Should You Choose Your Dentist Or A Diy Kit?

Do you think you need to see a dentist? London seems to have been filled lately with adverts and posters recommending that we all visit our dentist, although the reasons given vary from simply looking after our teeth to protect against disease, to cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening. London based posters and advertisements, at least in my experience, seemed to be tilting towards the recommendation that more of us consider having cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening.

But how convinced are you that you might need to see a dentist in order to have a treatments such as teeth whitening? After all, there are plenty of home teeth whitening kits available, so why not simply pick up one of those?

The difference between visiting the dentist for a cosmetically improved whitening of your teeth and using a DIY kit at home is a little like popping down to your jewellery shop for a really good quality, nice looking watch, and hammering a few stakes in your back garden to create a rough sundial. They'll both tell you the time, but there is a significant difference between the two in terms of both accuracy and appearance.

When it comes to teeth whitening, London dentists have at their disposal a significantly greater advantage as far as the chemicals and treatments available to them, as well as the technology.

Many of the treatments used by dentists to whiten people's teeth can only be used by professionals, since using the same chemicals and processes at home may well prove potentially dangerous or harmful. In the hands of your friendly local dentist, you're completely safe, but if you choose to carry out teeth whitening at home then for your own protection and welfare the power and strength of the chemicals and treatments is much reduced.

This reduced strength, combined with your relative lack of experience when it comes to carrying out teeth whitening means that the end result is likely to be significantly less impressive than that which your dentist could provide.

In fact there is relatively little in terms of cost difference, because most people find that the minimal improvement provided by home DIY kits for teeth whitening means that they have to purchase more of these kits more of the time. A one-off trip to have teeth whitening carried out by a dentist could last significantly longer. If you are interested in teeth whitening, London or wherever you are, then I highly recommend you make your first port of call your dentist.
