For many years now, there has been a stigma that having a diesel-powered engine spells sub-par engine performance over gas engines. In terms of revving up more horsepower, the gas engine is the clear winner as it is proven for quick and easier starts in cold weather and quiet acceleration. Availability of fuel is also an advantage. But in terms of pulling heavy loads, diesel fares better as its brute pulling force is testament to its torque advantage. And in the long run, a diesel engine can run longer than its gas-powered counterpart with its durable components. This long-term care edge has been the hallmark of what a diesel-powered engine is made of.

Such performance is proven by the Mercedes Benz 300D. This 4-door station wagon (also in touring sedan type) is built not only for elegance but for rugged applications, as well. As it started rolling out during the mid 70's, the Mercedes Benz 300D is tucked with a large 3.0 liter displacement and a straight five cylinder normal aspirated indirect injection diesel powered engine. The 80- to 90- horsepower output was a staggering statistic during those times. This became the impetus for engineers and scientists to come up with faster and more powerful internal combustion engines. And by 1982, a turbo diesel engine was developed using a turbocharged engine that produced up to 123 hp. It also has two available shifting options, including the 4-speed automatic transmission and the 5-speed manual transmission system. All these improvements have been made without tarnishing the continued efficiency and reliability

The chassis platform of the Mercedes Benz 300D uses the platform similar to the pioneering W123, considered as the most prolific platform in Mercedes history. Though it ended production in 1985, virtually all of the cars based on the chassis are still on the roads today. This proves the quality and durability of the original design. The legacy of the 300D went on until 1993, but a different design, engine (OM602, a turbocharged inline five cylinder) and chassis (W124) to cope with the new trends in technology that time.

Not only in the performance, reliability and the durability of Mercedes Benz 300D parts and accessories, but ingenuity also lies in the way the Mercedes Benz 300D is designed to make the replacements and restoration convenient. It is a common sight already that every Mercedes Benz 300D part or accessory has been made available with a do-it-yourself kind of instructional manual for guided installation and mounting. Thus, consumers will have a breeze replacing defective Mercedes Benz 300D parts and accessories. In terms of availability, Mercedes Benz 300D parts and accessories can be purchased at the nearest counters of local dealerships or auto parts stores. At the click of a mouse, a Mercedes Benz 300D part or accessory can be readily bought online via online parts stores or dealerships. But having replacements or other forms of upgrade would take the owner a longer time than expected as the Mercedes Benz 300D parts and accessories are built with the toughest materials and are scientifically tested to last a long time for a prolonged driving pleasure of its passengers.
