About Incontinence

Incontinence is the name given to the inability to control the elimination of urine, which means sufferers accidentally urinate. Up to three million people in England suffer from this embarrassing condition, and its especially widespread in females over 40 years old.

Incontinence occurs when the normal process of passing urine is disrupted. However, urination can be affected in a number of different ways, which is the reason why there are number of kinds of incontinence.

One of the best treatments for incontinence is pelvic floor muscle exercise. These are exercises that can reduce stress or mixed incontinence by tightening up the muscles that start & stop the flow of urine. To complete these exercises, just contract these muscles 8 times, 3 times every day.

Your doctor might also recommend bladder training. This involves emptying your bladder at certain times. This treatment needs to be followed for six weeks or more to see if it’s going to work.

Alternatively, your doctor might prescribe some medicines to treat the ailment.
