Vardenafil, marketed as Levitra, is an oral prescription drug, used for treating erectile dysfunction (ED). It is a PDE5 inhibitor that works by increasing the flow of blood to the penis. It is used for the treatment of male impotence for over a decade now and has helped millions of men resume their sex lives and have satisfactory sexual intercourse. It helps in developing and maintaining an erection till the completion of sexual activity. On completion of the sexual act, blood flows out of the penis and the penis becomes flaccid again. Levitra is a proven effective impotence drug. But it does not in any way boost your libido. You must be sexually stimulated to get an erection, even if you take Levitra.

What sexual problems can Levitra help in?

Clinical trials have shown that Levitra helps strengthen your erectile functions. Men who suffer from health conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, and high blood pressure also experience faster and stronger erections. Other impotence drugs can't be taken in the above-mentioned conditions. Men who took Levitra experienced stronger erections as compared to men who were treated with placebos.

Before taking Levitra

If you are taking medications for other health conditions, talk to your doctor about it. Sometimes, Levitra does not work well in conjunction with other medicines. This might lead to severe side effects. If you are using a nitrate drug for treatment of heart problems or chest pain, do not combine the use of Viagra with this medication which include isosorbide dinitrate , Nitrostat, Nitrolingual, Dilatrate-SR, Imdur, Monoket and ISMO. Nitrates are also found in many recreational drugs such as 'amyl poppers'. A combination with these drugs will result in a dramatic decrease in blood pressure, which leads to stroke, heart attack or even death. Anyone who has suffered from non-arteric anterior ischemic optic neuropathy should not use Levitra or it will lead to a loss of partial or complete vision.

There are various side effects of Levitra and it should not be used in:

This medication is not known to harm pregnant women but you should not take it if you are pregnant. It does not pass in to breast milk there are chances that it may. Do not use this medication if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Always consult a doctor before taking it.
