An electrician that is bonded has paid for a guarantee of his obligations in a timely and reasonable manner. It is like having an insurance policy that the electrician starts and completes all jobs he takes on with satisfactory results. If the electrician does not adhere to this standard and you are dissatisfied, the bonding company compensates you. There are three different types of bonds, the bid bond, performance bond and the payment bind. When you choose a bonded electrician, you have an assurance the job will be done correctly and completed to your satisfaction. This is important when looking for a good electrician or electrical contractor for your project.

The one thing that most people do not know is that the bonding companies charge a high fee and some smaller electrical companies have to pass this cost or a part of it onto the customer. It is a matter of how strongly you feel about having a bonded electrician whether you want to take the added cost into your estimate. This does however guarantee the work for the life of the contractor, which means you need to know the name of the agency that is bonding the electrician in case you need it in the future.

A bonded electrician comes with a referral service as well if the bonding company offers that service. You can check with the bonding company before contracting the electrician for work to find out if they are indeed bonded and check with your licensing branch to see if the company has had any bad complaints. The professional electrician that is bonded, insured and licensed will be a good choice, but one that is not bonded can do the same quality work. It is all a matter of choice and the choice is yours since you want quality and satisfactory work.
