If you are like most people and trying to lose weight, this is probably not the first time you are dieting. I would estimate that I've lost (and unfortunately gained back) over 300 pounds throughout my life. For some people, myself included, losing weight is a never ending battle. Following are some important weight loss tactics that are quick, easy and healthy that can help you win that battle.

One of the most important aspects of your weight loss program is to be sure that you drink enough water. Water makes up about 80% of our body weight and is essential for good health. Water is an important part of the digestion and elimination process. In fact, this vital substance assists in almost every bodily function. Substituting water for soda is an easy (and healthy) tactic to lose weight.

Carbohydrates are also important; they represent a vital source of energy for our bodies. But not all carbohydrates are made equal. There are two different types of carbohydrates. One is very good for our body while the other is not so good.

The bad ones are simple carbohydrates such as sugar. Although they give you a boost of energy as the sugar rushes into your bloodstream fast, they can make you fat. Complex carbohydrates such as grain, fruit, and vegetables are much better for your health. They help satisfy your appetite and make you feel full for a longer period of time by supplying your body with much needed fiber.

Many people have weight problems because they eat too many simple carbohydrates. In many cases, junk food is loaded with simple carbohydrates and fat. This combination is a killer in the diet battle. Simply eliminating these bad carbohydrate foods and eating more complex carbohydrates is a great weight loss tactic that is a very easy and healthy way to help you lose weight.

Proteins are an important building block for the body. They are made up of amino acids that help to repair, maintain, and keep your body in good working order. Proteins also supply energy to your body but not nearly as efficiently as carbohydrates.

The third source of energy for your body is through fats. Fats also supply an immediate energy boost, but do so at a price. They are very high in caloric content and can put weight on you very quickly. In addition, there are many other health risks associated with a diet that is high in fat, so, if possible, your fat intake should be kept to a minimum. This one change is a great weight loss tactic that can significantly improve your health.
