Skincare isn't just for women and men's skin care is quickly becoming a booming industry. Caring for a man's skin takes different methods than women because their skin is a little bit different. For one thing, men have more collagen and elastin which makes their skin thicker. In addition they usually have oilier skin because their sebaceous glands tend to produce more oil.

Men have some additional challenges when caring for their skin. In addition to weather, the sun and poor dietary habits men also need to consider the damage to their skin from shaving. The daily use of the razor blade can be harsh on your skin so men need to be sure that they use shaving gel packed with vitamins.

Men also need to protect their skin from the sun. Too much sun can give them a weatherbeaten look and age them prematurely. A lot of men spend time in the sun fishing, playing golf and even working and it's important for them to apply sunscreen for protection.

Here are some tips for men's skin care:

1. Exfoliate your skin to open your pores and remove dead skin cells. If you do this before you shave it will allow you to get a closer shave.

2. Always wash your face twice a day to remove dirt and oils.

3. Before you shave, splash warm water in your face to soften the skin and make it easier for your shaving cream to work up into a lather. Massage in the shaving cream - this will help get the blood flowing to your skin. Always be sure to use a sharp blade and shave in the same direction that your hair is growing.

4. Shaving can be drying to your skin so be sure to use a good moisturizer that has vitamins as well as Aloe Vera.

5. Avoid aftershave products that have alcohol since this could dry your skin.

Just like with anyone, a key factor in men's skin care is to make sure you take care of your whole body. This means getting exercise, and eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables. Drinking lots of water to make sure hydrated will help your skin too. This way you can care for your skin from the inside out.
