Make Up And Hair Disasters To Avoid

Sure, you need to look like a princess on your big day. All eyes are on you. Add to that the fact a photographer will be there taking the most important photographs of your life that will hang on your and your loved ones walls for decades to come, and is it really that surprising that some brides over compensate when it comes to hair and make up?

You want to look perfect, but too much make-up, fake tan or over-coiffed hair can end up making you look like a tacky Barbie doll rather than blushing bride. Not everybody knows which make up suits their complexion or crucially, how to apply it. Consulting a wedding hair and make-up specialist is one of the best investments you will make on your wedding day. It can be tempting to wear bigger or brighter make-up than you'd ordinarily wear in an attempt for glamour or to distinguish your big day - but you could end up looking more like a seventies David Bowie with too much dodgy face paint. The idea that less is more is a truism that rings as loud as your wedding bells when it comes to subtle but effective wedding day make-up.

It's easy to get carried away in the quest for beauty perfection from plucking, colouring and scrubbing to perfection. No matter how stressed you feel to look your best, hold onto the mantra that less is more - or better yet, leave your beauty and grooming regime to the professionals.

But if you have overdone the fake tan or hair dye - don't panic. If you've over bleached your hair, opt for a vegetable based dye to add some colour back - it won't be as harsh or as damaging as more intensive dye. Put your hair on an intense conditioner regime. Gone too dark? Consider a few strategic highlights - but make sure you use a professional stylist.
Over plucked your eyebrows? It's easily done. Ideally, leave your brows for a professional wax a day or two before your big day. But if you have over plucked, brush the hairs in the direction of growth and fill visible patches with a soft eyebrow pencil. Use the corner of your eyes as a guide to length.

Some make-up and hair disasters can ruin your big day, so make sure you use specialist wedding hair and make-up artists so you're free to not fuss over your foundation, but to enjoy the most important day of your life.
