Ezard House is a ten suite boutique hotel located in exclusive Camps Bay a suburb of Cape Town in South Africa.

Anne and I wished to end our holiday in March 2007 by staying in a hotel with views of the sea and, for this reason, chose Ezard House.

We arrived at Ezard House at about seven in the evening to be greeted outside by two members of staff who dealt with our luggage and escorted us into the hotel. A complimentary glass of wine was forthcoming and we were given a brief tour of this luxury boutique hotel which is furnished and decorated in a contemporary style.

We had booked the Ocean Suite which was vast with a shared balcony with extensive views towards the sea at Camps Bay. The double ended spa bath and shower were located in the bedroom giving an open plan aspect. There were bathrobes, mini bar, luxurious toiletries and you were even given a personal filofax to take with you when you left-a nice touch. We were able to sit up in bed and view the ocean in the distance.

Ezard House has a heated swimming pool with sun loungers and towels, an outside jacuzzi on the top floor of this small luxury hotel and a beautiful small garden to meander around. There are pools stocked with Koi carp both inside and outside the hotel. The lounge areas are a delight to relax in -so tranquil. There is a contemporary wine bar and a restaurant with breathtaking views of the ocean-a periscope is on hand!

The grand piano is a focul point and no doubt emanates from the fact that Mr Ezard, the owner of Ezard House, is a classical conductor.

Dining at Ezard House is like no other hotel that we have stayed in-they do not have set times for meals. If you want breakfast at 11.45 am it will be prepared for you. If you return to the hotel at 11.15pm and want dinner it will be cooked for you. Furthermore although they have a menu with an excellent selection of dishes we spoke with the chef (the kitchen and dining room are open plan) and he was able to prepare a variation of what was on the menu. Infact, if I had wanted beans on toast with a fried egg on top he would have done it!

The guest to staff ratio is excellent at this luxury boutique hotel.

Enjoy!
