Coeliac is a lifelong auto-immune condition that results in intolerance to gluten permanently and prevents the small intestine from absorbing the nutrients in the body. People diagnosed with this condition needs to be careful with their food intake as the presence of gluten, in any amount whatsoever, will make the condition worse which means that it further damages the lining of the small intestine and preventing it further from absorbing nutrients. It is imperative that people who suffer from coeliac should be taking food with almost zero percent of gluten. Gluten-free foods are nutritious. They are consistently beneficial in keeping us fit and healthy. While there are countless benefits for such, there are also disadvantages in maintaining this kind of diet. Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), certain allergies and some digestive upsets are known to appear once a person continuous a gluten-free diet. For years, medical professionals do not fully understand why some people are susceptible to this condition. It does often run in families, meaning if your grand daddy is a coeliac patient, it ups your chance of getting one as well. People with other medical issues are also likely to have this condition. If you do have diabetes, thyroid problems, ulcers and other neurological disorders make you a prime candidate of coeliac also. Always be cautious with your food intake, with your health and with your well-being.

Gluten is protein that is found in certain cereals like wheat, barley and rye. Bread, pizza, pastries and any food that is almost similar is prohibited for coeliac patients. Be cautious with the grocery and the food you are buying. Always check the label. Most products sold are required to show contents of the food including gluten and other components that maybe harmful for some people so always make it a habit to check the label of every food item being purchased. Do not worry as there are a lot of foods that are naturally free from gluten. Rice, potatoes and corn are prime examples. Fruits and vegetables are another. Fresh and unprocessed meat and fish also are gluten-free. There are some who worry less about food and are too much concerned with their drinking habits. Exalt as beer, rum, tequila and wine are gluten-free. You could still visit your favorite pizza parlor around the corner minus the pizza of course, you might have to make do of drinking a bottle or two of Coors light instead. Some beers do have barley as well. Again, it always pays to check the label. If your favorite bottle does contain barley, it's time to change brands, no ifs and buts about it. Herbs and spices are gluten-free as well. They will add flavor and taste to the selective food that allowed for your diet. Sugar (white, brown and castor), syrup and honey are also given the green light for coeliac patients. If you do exercise and indulge in sports prior to coeliac diagnosis, you may want to slow down as these results to fatigue and chronic pain. It helps to be healthy and to exercise even when diagnosed with coeliac. The important thing here is to not overdo it.
