Step By Step Procedure To Write A Term Paper

A term paper is a record of information collected from different resources on a specific topic. It is not as difficult as it seems to write a term paper. But it should be planned in advance and definite procedure should be followed to produce the perfect term paper. Below is listed the step by step procedure that should be followed to produce a good term paper.

1) Choose a subject
2) Hunt for sources
3) Gather notes
4) Make outline for the paper
5) Write the first draft
6) Edit the paper

Choose a subject:

Avoid choosing a topic that is too general. Experiment with topics that are least researched on. But make sure that your topic has enough resources. Good papers are mostly built around questions. Make clear evidence and arguments to keep your paper crisp. So, use facts and prove your answers for questions that you decide to answer through your paper.

Hunt for sources:

Refer those materials that are not too old depending on your topic. Sources can be primary or secondary. General encyclopedia, reviews, Books, magazines, news stories, periodicals and articles are some examples of sources. You can get professional help to search for resources for your topic. Make sure that you have gathered at least ten times the information that your would require to compose your paper.

Gather notes:

Browse through your resources. Make a note of those that are strikingly good along with the author's name. Get the appropriate material. Obtain facts and work on them. Compare them with the conclusion provided by the author.

Make outline for the paper:

Make an outline of your term paper. Take care when you compose your outline. Create sub-divisions if needed and put them in the right places. Make a crisp and to the point outline. This gives a scholarly look to your paper. Outlines help you

Write the first draft:

Use the outline to compose your paper. Keep in mind that the first part should talk about the purpose. Write in a neat and precise form. Do not write bumpy or complicated sentences. Make sure that every paragraph talk about one idea. Also avoid long sentences and be to the point.

Edit the paper:

Editing the paper is one of the important steps. You give final touches and erase unnecessary sentences from your paper. Read the paper as if it were unfamiliar to you. Read the paper aloud. Fix the errors as you read them. Check for phrasing, sentence construction and proper spelling. Make sure there are proper footnotes, punctuation and quotes. Graphs and tables should be self explanatory. They should have proper form. Quotations should be used only if you need to show evidence and to avoid misinterpretation.
