There are a lot of fad diets on the market advertising ways to make you lose weight quick. These fad diets range from the ineffective to the downright dangerous. None of them are recommended in the quest to lose weight. Losing weight is a slow and steady process, and it should be done in order to improve your sense of health and wellbeing. Fad diets that offer you the opportunity to lose weight quick may be dangerous to your health, and there's no reason for you to endanger your health just to achieve a certain body size.

Often a fad diet advertising that you can shed pounds quickly is made up of a plan to drastically reduce your calorie intake to below starvation levels. For men, starvation level is about 1400 calories a day, and for women starvation level is about 1200 calories per day. Any diet that wants you to eat fewer calories than that is entering dangerous territory.

Sometimes fad dieters even advocate eating no calories at all. Fasting is definitely not a healthy way to lose weight quick. Your body needs food in order to function, and removing food from the equation completely will not do you any favours. This kind of mind set can also lead to disorders such as anorexia and bulimia. Eating disorders are no laughing matter, and you should avoid falling into the trap of thinking that life will be better if you can control your food intake to this level.

Some diets that advertise that you can lose weight quick offer liquid meal supplements that you are required to buy from the store. These are a complete waste of your time and hard earned money. These diets are forms of calorie deprivation that require you to give up the benefits of eating solid food. They will not help you to feel full, and they cannot provide you with all the protein and nutrients that you need in order to be healthy. They are an extremely poor substitute for an actual healthy meal, and should not be used in such a way.

The best thing to do when losing weight is to use a weight loss plan that you can stick to for the rest of your life. It's a lifestyle change, not a quick fix. You'll feel healthier and happier and have a lot more energy if you make gradual and fully healthy changes to your lifestyle. Fad diets are not the way to go. Enjoy food, and enjoy life, and eat a healthy diet that does not include drastic calorie restrictions. You can achieve your ideal weight without resorting to these kinds of fad diets, and you'll feel better about yourself for going to the effort and not being hoodwinked by schemes that risk your health and wellbeing.
