Bible Studies for Children Have Come A Long Way

We do not often recognize traditional Bible studies for children for their enjoyable nature. Many kids experience these weekly lessons as boring lectures. Children do not look forward to going to Sunday school or Wednesday church meetings especially after spending all week in school.
I have observed that Bible studies for children have come a long way since the strict approaches that were used years ago. A lot of church organizations have recognized that kids learn through play. As a result, they have incorporated play activities and games into Bible studies for kids. These learning activities can turn into fun lessons that have memorable lessons with the introduction of an element of play.
In this day and age, many churches hold wonderful summer camps that are filled with great religious learning activities. Most of these organizations accept kids who are not regular church members. Our little ones will feel that they are welcome in the church environment because of this open-armed approach to Bible studies for children.
The mainstreaming of kids who have special needs is another great feature in today's Bible studies for children. I had the honor of accompanying one of my clients to her weekly Bible studies for kids when I worked with young people who have autism or related pervasive developmental disorders.
My client had a lot of needs and her disorder interfered with her ability to learn as well as her ability to function properly in social situation. As a result, she became very agitated and scared during some activities. She could not comprehend many of the lessons in the Bible studies for children because of her affliction. Fortunately, tolerance and understanding within the church organization made up for these deficits.
I collaborated with the leaders of the church group to create Bible studies for children that could accommodate my client's special needs. She proudly worked towards earning rewards and she was praised for interacting with other kids and adults. I'm glad that she had really come out of her shell by the time the Bible studies for children were complete for the year.
