These days of environmental awareness we all want to save our power usage, not only to save the earth's resources but also to save the money we pay out on our electricity bill. Most of us now have managed to remember to turn off lights that are not in use, wash clothes in cold water and close doors into unused rooms when our heating or cooling devices are being used.

But often we don't think about those little lights that are on all night to such things as the computers and entertainment media in our homes. This is probably because they are really not visible when the room is well lit, and then when we switch off lights to go to bed we simply forget about them because they are just so much a part of modern life.

But they too, use up quite a lot of power that is not only wasted, but is costing us more than we realise. This is especially so when homes have two or more computers, plus all those other electrical items that are left on standby all night.

It is possible to save quite a bit on this standby power simply by installing a power board called the Green Board. This power board has eight outlets; four of them can be turned off completely, while four can be left on for appliances that need to be kept on throughout the night. This could be for when you need to record that movie or sporting match that will be played over on the other side of the world - in the wee hours, our time. It can also be useful for overnight re-charging of iPods, cameras and phones.

The power board has a number of features that are intended to make it even more user-friendly. It can be integrated into nearly all automated Home Systems.
