No1 On Google, "So What."

Don't think by being No1 on Google you're going to get loads of traffic to your website. You've probably noticed all the emails stating: "We are a top SEO company and can get you a No1 position on Google," sitting there in your Spam box. Well now you can say "so-what," just before you press the delete button.

Anyone can be a number one on Google providing it isn't something that gets searched for regularly, and that's what these companies (usually a one man company) look for, Easy Targets. Don't get me wrong here, there is a lot of top class SEO companies who do a fantastic job, but you will not find these in your Spam folder.

I've had a number one position with Information Ebooks on Google for the last five years, without filling my website with keywords and tweaking it here and there every two minutes. I haven‘t even used the keywords in the domain name. I'm not being big headed or anything by no means, being No1 hasn't accrued any more traffic to my website than being 2001.

Another example: I like making curry but my cholesterol doesn't, so last year I came up with a healthy curry recipe step by step guide, initially to sell on Clickbank. Second thoughts, I'll build a website called healthycurry.com and give the recipe away free, and hopefully get a few hits on my Google Ads. I uploaded the site and with in a matter of seconds Healthy Curry went straight to the No1 slot on Google.

I said "gosh that was quick" (in not so many words.) That's a brand spanking new four page website full of massive images, with no links in or out whatsoever. How do you weigh that one up? you might ask. Because there wasn't such a thing as a healthy curry funnily enough. Curry has always been tainted with the slogan that it's bad for your health, until recently that is.

I haven't and I'm not expecting to get a lot traffic from that site, not yet anyway.
Simply because, if no one searches for your product or service you might as well not be there in the first place. You might as well just call it My Product, or My Service, and sit there waiting for ever until that unlucky person clicks it by mistake. So if you are wanting SEO make sure it is a keyword that people are searching for, just to give the SEO company a tiny bit of work to do.
