Dealing With Pet Stains On Carpeting

If you have pets you will probably at some point have to deal with pet stains on carpeting. They can be difficult to remove but they are just part of life when you have a pet. This article will give you some advice to help you treat and hopeful remove pet stains.

If your pet has an accident on the carpet the first thing you must do is remove as much of the material as possible. This is easy if you are dealing with feces. just pick it up. If your pet has urinated on the carpet you should blot it up with dye free paper towels. Blot up as much as you can and then place a stack of paper towels on the spot and place a weight on to p of the towels. Let is sit for a few hours to give the liquid time to wick up into the towels. Change the towel often if necessary.

After you have cleaned up as much of the liquid or solid material as possible you can clean the area. Obtain a a spray bottle and mix up a solution of 1 part vinegar to 4 parts of water. Spray the solution on the spot and let it dwell for a minute. Blot the spot and repeat if necessary.

In most cases this will have done the trick. If you notice an odor problem in the future you can try an enzyme cleaner. They are available at most pet stores. Follow the directions on the product. With this product you mix up the solution and pour it on the spot. Let it dwell. You will usually want it to remain wet for 24 to 48 hours to give the enzyme time to work.

If you still have an odor problem you should probably contact a local carpet cleaner. they will have professional tools and methods to take care of the problem.
