This document comes in two parts, and you're on the second part. The first part of the article answered the crucial question "Who to throw the shower for", so be sure to check that out.

Now, we just need to answer the rest of the questions:

When to throw the shower? Is mom-to-be having a girl/boy/twins? Will it be a face-to-face or online shower? Is it a surprise shower? Are the parents adopting?

When to throw the shower?

Before birth - this is the more popular option, since with this choice, it's not just the baby which is glorified, but the entire pregnancy thing as well. If you are opting for this one, then you should throw the shower around two months before the baby arrives.

After birth - though not as popular as the other one, some mom-to-bes prefer this because of some beliefs that having it before is not as lucky as having it after. If this is your choice, then throw the shower one month after the baby is born. And, make sure that games and activities are solely about babies, since having pregnancy games seem like a thing of the past.

Is mom-to-be having a girl/boy/twins?

Baby boy - invitation, decoration, and theme are greatly affected by this one, since you would not want an invitation that shows a picture of a baby girl, when you're having a boy, right? And you definitely don't want a princess shower, when you should be having a prince shower.

Baby girl - basically the same considerations as the previous one, but this time, everything should be about baby girls.

Twins - everything that you could do by pairs (pictures of babies in invitations, grouping in games and activities, etc), you need to do so, so as to stress that mom-to-be is having twins. Noah's Ark is the most commonly-used theme, but don't worry, you are not limited to it, since it is quite simple to customize other themes to make them twin shower-friendly.

Will it be a face-to-face or online shower?

Face-to-face - this is the more popular option. If you are opting for this one, then no sweat, most of the available baby shower themes will work perfectly.

Online - with the advent of technology, friends from all sides of the world could still join mom-to-be on her baby shower. This is all possible by availing services of web baby shower vendors. The extent of shower activities is dependent on the services provided by your vendor.

Since everybody have some family or friends from all sides of the world, even those having a face-to-face shower can't help but have an online one on the side. And who can blame them, a new baby is definitely worth celebrating, long distance or otherwise.

Is it a surprise shower?

Surprise shower - if you feel your friend (mommy) would appreciate a shower more if it comes as a surprise, then you are definitely throwing her a surprise shower. Instead of working with mom-to-be, you need to work with somebody very close to her, so that all her preferences will still be carried out. Your invitation should say that it's a surprise shower.

The more popular option is the non-surprise version (not a surprise, right?). And the reason is perfectly clear. Since you are not oblige to throw a shower for mom-to-be, the fact that you want to throw one is already a pleasant surprise. Plus there's no beating the fact that it is much better to be able to consult her, right?

Are the parents adopting?

Adoption shower - this is a very special shower type, but also very sensitive. We bet that the parents-to-be have been really dying to have a child for quite some time, and that they're the very couple who would like to celebrate grandly when a child is already promised to them.

This is also the most sensitive, and thus, you must make sure that references to pregnancy are limited (if not omitted altogether), and everything should just be about the baby. Also, before you throw the shower, make sure that the baby is already with the parents. You don't want to throw a victory celebration before the victory, so to speak.

It is possible to throw a shower that is a combination of two or more of these baby shower types. For example, you could throw a twin WOMEN ONLY baby shower or a twin WOMEN ONLY surprise baby shower. The keyword here is customize, since these baby shower types are the popular options, not necessarily your option. At the end of the day, it will still be your decision.
