Alternative fuels is often described as many things other than fossil fuels. Alternative energy falls into the category of renewable energy. Typically renewable energy is safe for our environment and is very Earth friendly, a much cleaner option than fossil fuels.
Renewable energy is exactly that, renewable. These energy sources will never run out or become expensive, unlike fossil fuels. With all the research going on with renewable energy, energy companies are seeing the light, and soon will focus more sharply on alternative and renewable energy sources.
Renewable energy comes from a variety of sources, including solar, wind, geothermal, hydro-electric, biomass and more. All these energy sources have one thing in common, they are very Earth friendly and do not contribute to ruining our environment.
Solar energy is the most abundant of all the renewable sources. Solar energy produces electricity as well as heating water and air, for use in homes and factories. As long as the sun continues to beam down upon us, this renewable source will shine on.
Wind energy is one of the oldest forms of renewable energy found today. Having been around for thousands of years, wind energy is becoming more popular as a way of producing electricity. In years past the energy from the wind was used to pump water, grind grain and power sawmills.
Geothermal energy taps into the heat from below the surface of the Earth. This technology came about after realizing the Earth has a constant temperature. The heat below the surface stays the same temp year around, by installing pipes with a special fluid we are able to harness this remarkable form of energy.
Biomass is very Earth friendly and doesn't no way contribute to the greenhouse effect of poisonous gases. Biomass is any plant derived organic matter, including, crops and trees, agricultural food and feed crops, agricultural crop waste and residues, wood waste and residue, animal and municipal waste, and aquatic plant life.
Renewable energy sources have to be taken seriously by all of us. We need to focus and do our part in getting off our addiction to foreign oil.
